As we welcome visitors and students in to our building, we have some incredible art displays very generously loaned to us and we want to highlight these talented artists and their inspiring work! Each assemblage reflects a personal touch that celebrates the arts and recognizes the importance of creativity to the life of our community.

A Note from Lindsey:
“I grew up in Alberta, but moved to Rosthern for a short season before settling in Saskatoon. While there, I met a man named Eric Yoder, who makes his living from a market garden in his idyllic and sprawling backyard at the edge of town. I asked him if I could take his picture and make some paintings of him at work, and he was happy to oblige me. I love this image, because to me it is a picture of planting, but trusting God to grow it. It speaks of the fulfillment that comes from co-labouring with God. Of sowing and reaping, diligence and faithfulness. I grew up in a farming family, and my mother passed on a love of gardening, and so I resonate with the agricultural analogies Jesus so often used when explaining what the Kingdom of God is like. There is mystery in the way seeds develop from dry, hard things into lush, vibrant plants that feed us. The wonder of growing our food inspires us to marvel at God’s continuous action in the world, and His invitation to us to be His image bearers. When I paint, I sense God’s pleasure as I use the creativity He supplies to create images that I hope invite others to contemplate His unseen qualities, displayed in all that He has made.”

The Darkness Didn’t Understand
4’x5′ Oil on Canvas, Not for sale

A Note from Leslie:
“I am a Saskatchewan artist and love spending my time on our farm near Guernsey.

I have been creating art in one form or another since I was a young child. In the late 90’s I began drawing intentionally and soon transitioned into painting. Many workshops and classes have informed my practice including folk art, pastels, watercolors and acrylic painting as well as University of Saskatchewan classes. In the last 15 years I have painted almost exclusively in oils.

My florals and landscapes are an attempt to capture the beauty that surrounds us in creation. I like to use bold colors to capture the essence of my subject in order to bring the viewer into the emotion which inspired the work.”

A Note from Jacqueline
“These paintings are part of a collection entitled “The Calling”. This collection of paintings was created in response to the Holy Spirit speaking to me. He was knocking on my door to step out from self imposed walls and follow Him. To go on an adventure trusting Him and leaving fears behind, knowing that I have a destiny to live out.

Song of Songs 5:2-5 The Passion Translation
I have hoped that this collection of paintings would speak to others about responding to the Lord about their own destiny and “calling”.”
