Horizon College & Seminary

Our goal and focus at Horizon is to prepare leaders for Christian life and ministry, whether that ministry be volunteer or professional. We aim to make our students better and more reflective thinkers about God and about Christian responsibility in our world. We aim to equip our students to be skilled practitioners of the Christian faith, ready for hands-on ministry in the local church and other settings. Whether you're preparing for professional ministry or are planning to transfer classes to the University of Saskatchewan or to go on to another vocation, it's essential to us that each student at Horizon more intimately develops her or his personal relationship with God. More specifically, though, our aim is to prepare you to live out that relationship concretely, practicing real-life, hands-on Christianity.

We are extremely pleased to introduce you (though some of you already know her!) to and to welcome Kriston Martens (nee Funk) as a Student Recruiter. Here's a little about her:

Kriston has a heart for the church. Growing up she watched her parents be very involved, leading worship together, and soon joined in along with her brothers. She went on to "Central Pentecostal College" now Horizon, and then to Saskatoon Business College. For many years Kriston spent her time as an entrepreneur - running a foot care business for almost 15 years. Through those years she was happily involved volunteering in her church but in time felt the call to full-time ministry. It was tough to give up her business that she poured into and enjoyed but when it sold 5 minutes after posting it for sale - she knew God was in this ministry call. For the last 5 years she's dedicated her time as Children's Pastor in a fast-growing church in her hometown - Moose Jaw, Sk. The next adventure of jumping on board in recruitment for Horizon came out of her passion for the church - to see it grow and thrive. To do that we need the next generation to be inspired, encouraged, and called! Kriston is a wife, and a mom of three amazing kids. She enjoys speaking at kids camps with her husband Scott, and watching her kids growing artistic talents. Sports, music, mid century modern design, and coffeeing with friends would be on her top personal enjoyments list!
