About our Seminary

 Graduate Studies at Horizon

Competent, Thoughtful, Practical

Horizon Seminary aims to equip both seasoned and aspiring Christian leaders to serve the church and world through thoughtful engagement in graduate-level biblical and theological studies, leadership training, and hands-on contextualized learning.

Flexible and Affordable

You do not have to move to go to seminary!  In addition to traditional semester classes, our course delivery methods at Horizon include:

  • One-week module courses (Monday through Friday full days)
  • Online courses
  • Directed Study courses (i.e. distance education)
  • Our recent reduction in tuition rates also makes graduate studies more affordable – whether you are taking one course, a certificate, or a full degree.

Bursary Information

Students who are active in the life and ministry of a Saskatchewan Mennonite Brethren church may also qualify for SKMB bursaries and internship support. Click here for more info.

Partnerships and Accreditation

Horizon has a longstanding agreement in partnership with Lutheran Theological Seminary (LTS) and the Saskatoon Theological Union (STU) to take courses at Horizon towards the Master of Divinity degree at Lutheran Seminary.

Horizon’s courses are also transferable to other seminaries usually by means of a Letter of Permission. Students must consult with their institution to ensure that a course at Horizon fits into the student’s program of studies.

Horizon Seminary is also currently developing a plan to pursue accreditation with the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) in the United States and Canada. At present, Horizon maintains ATS standards for all graduate course requirements, syllabi, and instructors and has extensive transfer agreements with three seminaries that are accredited by ATS (Briercrest Seminary, Providence Theological Seminary, and MB Biblical Seminary).

Contact Dr. Susan Wendel, Horizon Seminary Dean, for more information.
