Campus Pastor Emeritus
 April 26, 2009

During the Graduation Exercises on April 26, 2009, Rev. Henry Schapansky was appointed Campus Pastor Emeritus at Horizon College and Seminary. He served the college for many years as a faculty member, Dean of Students, and Director of Facilities.

Henry challenged students with practical ministry in his Christian education classes and reached out to them with pastoral care. His greatest contribution was one-on-one in the personal lives of students.

As Campus Pastor Emeritus Henry will continue to ‘hang out’ at the college whenever he wishes – to pray, to encourage, to remind faculty, staff and students that it is God’s work and we need the presence of God’s Spirit in all that we do.

Opening Chapel at Horizon - "Never say 'NO' to God!" by Dr. G. Giesbrecht
 September 2, 2008

We have completed our first day of the new school year!

Registration, orientation, textbooks, classes - all of these are important in a college setting. However, we started our day with the most important element - a spiritual focus on worship and the Word of God.

President Giesbrecht challenged students and staff to "Never say 'NO' to God!" Go to the "Welcome from the President" page for a summary of this motivational message.

Tim Beech awarded “Governor General’s Gold Medal”
 June 6, 2008

Horizon would like to congratulate Professor Tim Beech on winning the “Governor General’s Gold Medal Award for Scholastic Achievement" in April of 2008.

We also congratulate him on receiving the degree of “Doctor of Philosophy in Theology” (Biblical Studies concentration) from Saint Paul University / University of Ottawa on June 6, 2008.

Coming to Horizon in 2007 Professor Tim Beech was appointed the “Old Testament Studies” Professor. With a passion for the written word Tim has developed ways to engage students into meaningful and educational discussions and assignments that bring them into a deeper understanding of and reverence for the written Word of God.

In addition to anchoring our Old Testament department Dr. Beech is also the Dean of Students at Horizon.

Passion, Training, and Impact are all areas in which Professor Beech excels. In his first year he has already demonstrated the ability to inspire and teach students to seek a deeper biblical foundation for their lives. His genuine care for students and availability outside the classroom have made Tim Beech an effective mentor.
